Is ALC Accredited?
The American Learning Center is not an accredited school. We do not offer degrees, certifications, diplomas, or licensure.

Will these courses transfer as college credit?
It is up to each individual institution as to whether they will accept these classes towards college credit.

Will these courses give me a certification or a license?
No. Sorry, our courses are for your educational enrichment and professional development. They will not give you a certification or a license.

Is this course recognized by my state or country?
Sorry, we do not keep track of what courses are approved where, as our courses serve a world-wide population. If you need to fulfill specific requirements from an institution or governing body, please contact them directly about whether or not an ALC course will fulfill any part of your coursework requirements.

What are CEUs?
CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit. A CEU is not the same as 'college credit'. CEUs are the industry measurement of non-credit education. One (1) CEU equals 10 contact hours.

Why are these classes so cheap?
ALC is committed to providing the highest quality education at the most affordable prices. Our non-credit courses are ideal for enhancing your personal understanding on any subject. We believe education should be affordable and accessible by all.

How many hours will it take to complete a course?
All courses vary in scope, length, and work required. Most courses can be completed in a very short amount of time, and with a little diligence, most can be completed within 30 days.

How long do I have to complete a course?
You have unlimited time to complete any course on our service.

Is this cost per lesson, per session, or for the entire course?
The course fee you pay is for the entire course.

What is your refund policy?
We do not refund course fees unless the course becomes unavailable due to an ALC error.

I am enrolling several students. How do I get a group discount?

When does a class start and end?
The class starts for you when you pay the course fee. You can enroll anytime day or night. Courses are self-paced and everyone works according to his/her own timetable. The online classroom will be open and accessible, once you're enrolled, 24 hours a day, every day of the week for up to six months. The class ends when you complete all the coursework.

Can I email the instructor my questions?
Yes, you can contact the course instructor at any time by email.

I don't use a credit card; can I send you a check?
Yes. We accept checks, money orders, payments through PayPal, and payments via all major credit cards. To use any of these options, begin your Course Enrollment process by displaying the Course Enrollment screen (click on the underlined title) and click on either "Basic Course" or "Course with CEU Certificate Option". Our mailing address and telephone information will be available when you click on the Methods of Payment screen.

Do I have to pay for an online course?
Yes. All courses have a course fee. ALC is able to host courses at reduced fees because it is not linked to the tuition costs associated with a university or organization. Our low course fees allow us to provide a worldwide audience with access to educational skills and career building tools.

How long do I have to complete a course?
Students have the ability to complete their course at their own pace. At this time, there is no time limit to completing a class. Keep in mind though that some information may be outdated after a period of time so we recommend completing the class within 6 months.

Why Won't My Credit Card Work?
The one problem we often see is that the address you entered when you registered is not the same address that your credit card company has on file and so the card is Declined. Otherwise, you'll have to call your bank or credit card company to find out why your card was Declined.

What if the class I am looking for is not listed?
If a course is no longer listed in the course catalog, it is probably no longer available. ALC hosts many online courses so a similar course may be found instead. For general searches look through our Course Categories to narrow your search.
